Client portal development in India

A client portal is a private login where your customers or partners check status, upload documents, approve work and pay without calling you. With Neyven a focused portal is a Build package, ₹1.5L–3.5L, and takes 3–4 weeks. Roles, integrations and payments move the price.

What does a client portal do?

It moves the repeated questions off WhatsApp and phone calls. The client logs in and finds the answer. Your team stops sending the same update twenty times a week.

  • Order, project or application status in plain language.
  • Document upload and download, with the history kept.
  • Approvals: the client clicks approve, and it is recorded.
  • Invoices and payments, with a receipt.
  • Requests and tickets that reach the right person.
  • Reminders by email or WhatsApp when something needs the client.

Who needs a portal and who does not?

A portal pays off when many clients ask similar questions about work you already track. Typical fits are agencies, logistics and trading firms, builders, consultancies, training providers and manufacturers with dealer networks.

It does not pay off if you have five clients and a simple shared folder works. It also fails when your own internal data is a mess, because the portal shows whatever is in the system. Fix the internal side first; the internal tools guide explains how.

What does a client portal cost in India?

Indicative Neyven prices. The written scope fixes the actual price.
ScopeWhat is includedPriceTime
Build: focused portalLogin, status view, documents, messages for 1–2 roles₹1.5L–₹2.5L3–4 weeks
Build: fuller portalApprovals, payments or invoicing, 3–4 roles, alerts₹2.5L–₹3.5L3–4 weeks

Payments add work for the gateway, refunds and reconciliation. A portal that reads from an existing system, such as Tally or Zoho, adds integration work. Both are listed separately in the scope so you can see them.

What should you decide before building?

  1. Which three questions do clients ask most? Build for those first.
  2. Who sees what? Define roles: client, client's staff, your staff, admin.
  3. Where does the data live today? The portal is only as good as its source.
  4. How do clients sign in? Email link, phone OTP or password.
  5. What happens when a client disagrees with what the portal shows? There should be a way to raise it.

Getting these right in the first week matters more than the technology. This is why the first Neyven step is a written scope and a clickable prototype your own clients can try.

How secure is a custom portal?

Security comes from design decisions: permissions checked on the server, not just hidden in the screen; files stored privately; every access logged. Each release goes through automated tests, independent review and a security pass before a person signs it off. See how we build. We do not claim certifications we do not hold.

Privacy matters too. Under India's data protection law you are responsible for how you handle client data, so the scope notes what is stored, where, and who can read it.

Can a no-code portal tool do this instead?

For a small client list, yes, and it is cheaper to start. The costs show up later: per-user pricing that grows with every client, limited branding, and permission rules that hit a wall. Compare the options in low-code versus custom software.
